Are carton egg crates safe to use with crafts?

With bird flu and all, I was wondering how safe it is. What if they are unsoiled and I leave them to air and disinfect naturally in the sun? Or, how else?

That is a good question. I would say yes since you will be covering them with paint or other material.
I haven't heard of anyone getting sick handling
egg crates. If you are concerned wipe the cartons with a water and clorine bleach mix then let dry.
