I decided to add some pearl or luster dust (what's the difference?) onto a fondant bow which I am going to use as a cake topper. I made the bow a few days ago therefore the bow is already very dry and hardened. Is it too late to use the pearl dust? If not too late, how would i go about applying it to the bow?

Liz is right a softer hair brush (check out art supply places, a small fan one) is best and a base coat of a sticky syrup helps the first coat go on, I did gold leave work for a friends anniversary cake, and it is tricky to, just make sure to catch the luster powder and reuse it if you can, I use parchment as it will allow it to be returned to the bottle, also if put it into a shallow dish, then it will not fly around.
Pearl has a lower density finish, luster is more metallic in finish.
