Button Making
Posted on Wednesday, October 21st, 2009 at 4:20 pmHow can I make my own badges/buttons without a badge/button Making Machine?
I want to make my own badges/buttons - whatever you called them, I use badges some others say buttons - but I don't want to buy a badge/button making machine. I want to make my own to add my own quirky, individual touch to my college bag.
I would get cardstock and use your computer printer to create exactly what you want. Of course, the skies the limit with colored papers, markers, embossing, paper punches, glitter, etc. You can create it like a scrapbook page with layers or whatever suites you. When you have them like you want, you can take them to Kinkos, Mardels or another office supply store in your area and have them laminated. Or sometimes schools will let you use their machines if you are in good with the secretary or a teacher. Anyway, after they are laminated you can either use a hole punch and tie them to your bag, or you could Hot Glue the individual badge-type pins to the back. I believe you can get the pins to make badges at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. And if you don't think the cardstock is heavy enough, you could even get some thin cardboard or posterboard and glue to the back before you have them laminated.
Another option would be to buy the chipboard cut-outs from Hobby Lobby or Michaels and paint or decorate them to your liking, and then glue the badge-pins to the back of them (no laminating necessary). Depending upon the medium you used to decorate the chipboard, you may need to spray with a clear sealer so the decorations stay put when it rains.
Hope this gives you a few ideas--good luck with your badges, and have fun!!
