I would like to know the meanings of eagle feathers in native american culture.?

I recently lost my father due to cancer . Although we are not NA , he did instill in us a great love and appreciation for the outdoors . I'm not trying to be disrespectful to Native Americans but I would just like to borrow from a culture that holds nature in such high regard as my father also did , and that I'm trying to do with my children .
I apologize I forgot to mention that I was looking to get a TATTOO of an eagle feather for my memorial to my father , not an actual feather . Sorry for the confusion I'm aware that the are a protected species .

there are hundreds of native cultures in north america and traditions and meaning differ. eagles are sacred for many reasons that i will not talk about here.

i think you should take the advice of the man who suggests silver feathers. make it mean what YOU want it to mean and do not link any native culture to it since you are not native.
