Plastic Bottles
Posted on Friday, January 1st, 2010 at 4:27 amWhat is the difference between reusable plastic bottles that one buys at Target and Walmart and Sigg bottles?
I don't mean the single use bottles (ie. Poland Springs) but the large Plastic Bottle. I want to be eco-friendly and use reusable water bottles but I want to make sure that buying a Sigg is the best thing for the environment and not some corporations bottom line.
The energy to make a sigg (aluminium) bottle is considerable, a plastic bottle like lexan is far better usually cheaper and easier to clean as you can see the nasties that start to live in the bottom corners of the bottle, sigg bottles have a plastic lining anyway which deteorates over time, siggs are good I use one for carrying fuel for bush walking but use a plastic lexan bottle for water, the one I have has lasted years, were even the sigg fuel bottle become so dented it had to be replaced.
