How do I center the black disks in plastic Googly Eyes?

I'm trying to make the GEICO mascot, "Kash", and I have a pair of googly eyes. The black circles inside move around, but I want to keep them in the center.
I've tried opening them, but they're really hard.
Does anyone know how to center the black "eyes" in plastic googly eyes?

Googly eyes are called 'googly' because they do roll around. You can't ungoogle them, but you can buy many different types of doll /toy eyes at your local craft store for a very nominal price.
