Is it better to get a carnation or a rose?

For the week of Valentines Day, my school sells carnations and roses you can buy to give to someone, and I was wondering what is the best? Or at least, in your opinion, who would you prefer receive?

Eyelets are are pretty and are good to be fair when your sweet for her as for her birthday or something ... but roses are most passionate of a flower. On the day of Valentine's Day, I'd rather have roses though.
