Ribbed Caps
Posted in Ribbons | No Comments »how do you start circular knitting?
I want to make a ribbed cap
but i don't know if I start right away doing the k2p2 or do knit stitch for one whole round then do k2p2
and should the cast ons be tight or not
For the cast-on, you want a looser stretchy stitch. I usually use the cable cast-on, but you use your favourite one. I sometimes cast-on in pattern, that is K1, P1 -- although I much prefer the K2, P2 as it has more elasticity than the 1/1 rib.
You don't knit one round in knit, since your first cast-on round is counted as a row, and it usually is all knit.
The real trick is making sure you don't have your cast-on twisted at all. You will find out after doing 2-3 rounds, but then you have to start all over again. Doing every step carefully, and correctly, is the only way to complete any project in good time and to your satisfaction.
