How do you make pom-poms with yarn?

I vaguely remember that it required a disc with a hole in the middle. Then the yarn would have to be wound around the disc... but that's all I remember.

You require 2 cardboard discs with a small hole in the centre. Wind the wool around and around until the hole is full, then cut wool around the outside edge of the discs, tie a piece of wool tightly around the centre, then pull the discs off.
