Can I bring sand and shells back from vacation?

Whenever we traveled, my husband and I brought a small tube of sand and shellfish from the beach. We go to Aruba in a few months and hopes to continue the tradition - it will be possible to carry our memories in the plane? Or is it better to send home?

I have never had any problems. As long as you do not bring any artifacts or live animals or plans, you should be fine.
