Wood Crosses

Which wood is stronger for Craft Projects basswood or clear pine?

I use wood that is 1/4 inch thick to cut out crosses. I need a wood that is strong and doesn't break easily. I have been using cedar but the price has doubled. Which would be the better choice?

Your best bet would be to use Basswood It's a hard wood unlike pine which is soft. I use Basswood at times for the sides of acoustic guitars it's quite strong and works easy, also it's easy to sand smooth.
