I'm sewing linings for bloth gdiapers I use. I'm running time and try to do. i do not have a serger so I was sewing and then back around the zig zag stich, but a bit long. Will it be all right just to sew? is there a ton of wear and tear on the surface with layers as I need to worry about really strengthen the seams?
No need. We managed for many years without zig-zag or overlock. Coats & Clark Dual Duty thread may contain up more than cotton thread. You can whip stitching overcast / that closely resembles an edge with an overlock serged / presser foot seam. You may have one, they vary in looks. http://www.sewingmachinesplus.com/media/products/techniques/by-foot/overcasting-techniques.pdf You can also use a double needle for double single row of stitching. Make sure the opening of the presser foot and throat plate is wide enough to accommodate the width of the twin needles.
